마이크로소프트 휴대전화 시장에 진출

꽤 오래전부터 마이크로소프트(MS)사가 애플(Apple)이 아이팟 터치(iPod Touch)를 시작으로 아이폰(iPhone)을 출시한 과정을 밟아 준(Zune)을 기반으로 한 준폰(Zune Phone)을 출시할 것이라는 소문이 무성했는데요.

월스트릿저널 28일 자 소식에 보니까, 아니나 다를까, 마이크로소프트가 버라이존(Verizon Wireless)과 휴대폰 개발 협상을 벌이고 있다고 합니다.

버라이존은 애플과도 최근 새로운 아이폰 출시에 대해 협상을 해 온 것으로 밝혀졌는데, 딱히 이루어진 계약은 없답니다.

마이크로소프트사가 내놓을 휴대전화 당연히 윈도즈 모바일(Windows Mobile) OS를 사용할 것이고, 최근에 시작한 윈도즈 마켓플레이스(Windows Marketplace)를 포함할 것이라고 알려졌습니다.

How to change UIImageView's animation images

I have a problem with updating a series of images to the existing UIImageView object which already has animating images. So I posted a question to iPhone Dev SDK forum.

Dealing with timer is kind of tricky. Especially when releasing a timer object before closing your application. I found that it's because a timer in the run loop may still point to the object even after you already released it depending on the schedule.

Hi,

I am trying to reuse UIImageView object instead of creating a new one. I am doing so because I found that releasing a UIImageView having animation in the middle before closing the app makes the app crash.

It's because even after stopping a timer (stopAnimating), the timer in the run loop may still point to the already released object depending on the schedule. So I found that releasing a UIImageView which uses a timer object before closing the app is not quite safe. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I found)

This description from NSTimer class reference explains why:
"The run loop removes and releases the timer, either just before the invalidate method returns or at some later point."

Anyways, how can I change animation images for the existing UIImageView which is currently animating?

stopAnimating itself is ok, but after that if I assign a new array of images, it crashes.

현재 모바일 (iPhone)용 게임을 개발 중입니다. 엔진이 거의 마무리 단계에 왔으므로 전체적인 그래픽 디자인을 하실 분을 찾습니다.

필요로 하는 이미지는 다음과 같습니다.

1. 메인 화면 배경이미지 1개 320px * 480px

3. 레벨별 Boss 캐릭터 5개: 200*100 (크기는 모양에 따라 약간 달라질 수 있음)
- 각각의 Boss별로 애니메이션을 위해 별도로 4-5개의 이미지가 필요

아이폰 실전 활용

최근에 아이폰을 사고 이동통신사(carrier)를 버라이존(Verizon Wireless)에서 AT&T로 갈아탔죠. 아이폰이 AT&T에서만 돌아가니까 어쩔 수 없는 선택이었습니다.

버라이존을 사용할 때에는 가족 플랜(Family Plan)으로 한 달에 90불 미만을 지불하였습니다. 물론 텍스트 메시징(SMS) 서비스는 신청하지 않았을 때의 가격입니다.

이번에 아이폰으로 바꾸면서 데이터 플랜(Data Plan)만 전화당 30불을 냅니다. 제 것과 아내 것을 합치면 데이터 플랜만 60불이 되는 셈이죠.

버라이존에서 AT&T로 통신사를 바꾸는 방법 및 가장 싸게 AT&T 플랜을 짜는 방법에 대해서는 나중에 다른 글로 올리도록 하고, 일단 비싸게 요금을 내는만큼 알뜰하게 아이폰을 사용해야되지 않겠어요? 그래서 지난 연휴동안 정말 실전(?)에서 위력을 발휘한 아이폰 실전 활용에 대해서 이야기 해 보고자 합니다.

이번 주 월요일이 노동절(Labor Day) 연휴였습니다. 그동안 노동하던 아빠가 당연히 푸욱 늘어져 쉬어야 하는 날임에도 불구하고, 놀이동산을 입에 달고다니는 아들을 위해 제가 사는 곳에서 약 한 시간 반정도 거리에 있는 놀이동산 Six Flags를 가게 되었습니다.

제가 가지고 있는 밴에는 네비게이션(Navigation System)이 달려있었기 때문에 지도를 뽑지는 않고 달랑 놀이공원 주소 하나만 준비해서 바로 출발했습니다.

차에 달려있는 네비게이션의 주소 데이터 DVD를 7월 초에 업데이트 했었기 때문에 별 걱정을 하지않았죠.

왠걸요? 거의 다 와서 하이웨이(Highway)에서 내려야 하는데, 길이 새로 난 것인지 차에 나타나는 지도와 실재 도로가 맞질 않는 겁니다. 차에 달린 네비게이션이 제법 성능이 좋아서 바로 새로운 길을 표시해 주었지만, 도로가 아예 달라져 있던 터라 몇 번을 같은 길로 가는 낭패를 당했습니다.

아이폰 GPS, 아이폰 GPS 도와줘요~~~~

드디어 아이폰의 GPS가 효력을 발휘합니다. 구글 제공의 지도 데이터가 최근에 업데이트가 되었나 봅니다. 차에 달린 네비게이션으로 낭패를 봤지만, 아이폰 GPS의 도움으로 쉽게 우리의 목적지인 Six Flags에 도착할 수 있었습니다.

아이폰 GSP, 정말 유용합니다!!

한참을 놀았는데도 시간이 그리 많이 흐르질 않았습니다. 놀이공원 안에서 다시 저녁까지 먹을 생각을 하니까, 값도 값이지만 별로 당기는 메뉴가 없었습니다.

나파(Napa Valley)가 놀이 공원에서 약 40분 거리에 있습니다. 그래서 저녁은 나파에 있는 근사한 식당에서 먹기로 하였죠. 나파에 갈 때 자주 들르는 BRIX라는 식당에서 식사를 하기로 하고 미리 예약을 해야했습니다.

공원 내에서 BRIX의 전화번호를 알아낼 방법이 없었죠. 그러나, 내 손에는 아이폰이 들려있습니다.

구글 검색(Google Search)으로 간단하게

바로 사파리(Safari) 검색기를 열고 구글 검색 창에 BRIX Napa를 쳤습니다. 바로 첫번째로 제가 찾는 BRIX 식당 정보가 뜨더군요. 따로 전화번호를 누를 필요도 없습니다. 화면에 나와 있는 전화번호를 지긋이 눌렀습니다. 바로 전화가 걸립니다.

아주 간단하게 저녁 시간에 맞춰서 예약을 끝내고 다시 아이가 원하는 탈 것으로 이동할 수 있었습니다.

수시로 다운되는 경우가 있지만 그래도 핸드폰(Cell phone)상에서 웹 브라우저(Web Browser)가 완벽하게 돌아가는 아이폰!!! 이것 하나만으로도 비싼 이용료를 낼 가치가 있다고 생각했습니다. 물론 플래시 플러그인 지원이 되지않는 것이 큰 흠이긴 하지만 말입니다.

완벽한 인터넷 브라우징 - 아이폰 사파리

블로깅을 위해 사진은 필수

BRIX에 들어서는데 뭔가 많이 틀려졌다는 느낌을 받았습니다. 실내 구조는 물론이고 인테리어가 많이 바뀌어져 있다는 사실을 알았습니다. 물어보니까 약 두 달전에 리모델링(Renovation)을 했다고 하네요. 훨씬 더 세련되어지고 뭐랄까 좀 더 편안한 분위기로 바뀐 것 같더군요.

나파에 왔으니까 와인을 시켰습니다. 저는 스파클링 와인(Sparkling Wine)을 시켰습니다.

그리고 애피타이저와 주 요리를 시키고 음식이 나올 때까지 이 식당 뒤 편에 있는 분수대와 직접 기르는 채소와 과일을 보며 시간을 보냈습니다.

이곳 음식은 결코 실망 시키는 법이 없습니다. 즐겁게 음식을 즐겼습니다.

당연히 나중에 블로깅할 생각으로 나오는 음식들과 주변 경관을 아이폰을 이용하여 모두 찍어두었죠. 조만간 BRIX 편도 올리도록 하겠습니다.

요것이 바로 캡차(CAPTCHA)

캡차(CAPTCHA)란 무엇인가?

요즘은 왠만한 웹사이트에 가입을 하기 위해서는 이리저리 찌그러진 글자나 숫자를 가입폼에 적어야 합니다.

바로 로봇으로 가짜 계정(account)을 만들어 악용하는 것을 방지하는 것이 목적입니다.

당연하게 적어야 하는 것으로 알고 이용을 해 왔지만, 이것의 정확한 이름이 무엇인지, 언제, 누가 만들었는지에 대해서는 알고있는 것이 전혀 없었습니다.

우연히 신문에 올라 온 캡차(CAPTCHA)에 대한 기사를 읽은 후, 인터넷에서 자료를 좀 더 모아보았습니다.

캡차(CAPTCHA)는 2000년에 처음 선을 보였습니다. 야후(Yahoo)의 요청으로 카네기 멜론 대학(Carnegie Mellon University)의 루이스 안(Luis von Ahn)과 몇몇 사람들이 개발하였습니다.

요즘 대부분의 웹사이트에서 이 캡차 기술을 사용하고 있지만 실재로 개발자들에게는 한 푼도 돌아가지 않는다고 합니다. 특허(patent)를 내지 않았기 때문입니다. (완전 대박날 수 있었는데, 왜 특허를 내지 않았을까요?)

거의 10여년이 지난 지금 주 개발자였던 루이스 안이 캡차를 바탕으로 한 새로운 기술인 리캡차(reCAPTCHA)를 개발하였습니다.

이것이 바로 리캡차(reCAPTCHA)

리캡차와 캡차는 무엇이 다른가?

캡차에서는 아무 단어나 그냥 보여주지만, 리캡차에서는 의미는 있지만 철자는 정확치 않은 그런 단어들을 보여줍니다.

두 단어를 보여주는데 처음 단어는 철자가 정확한 단어이며, 두번째 단어는 철자가 맞을 수도 있고 틀릴 수도 있습니다.

좀 더 자세한 내용을 설명하기 전에 종이 문서를 전자 문서화 하는 것에 대해서 간단히 알아보죠.

구글은 물론이고 대표적인 신문사, 출판사 등에서 몇 해 전부터 아카이브(Archive) 문서들을 전자 문서화 하는 작업을 진행 중입니다. 이 작업에 가장 중요하게 사용되는 기술은 바로 광학 문자 인식(OCR) 기술입니다.

문제는 조금 오래된 종이 문서를 스캔을 한 후 광학 문자 인식을 하였을 때의 정확도는 80%정도 밖에 되지않기때문에 100% 전자 문서화 하는 대는 당연히 한계가 있습니다.

다시 리캡차로 돌아갑니다.

루이스 안이 새롭게 개발한 리캡차 기술은 광학 문자 인식으로 해결되지 않는 그 20%를 사람의 노력이 아닌 컴퓨터를 사용하여 해결해 줍니다.

아래 그림을 보면서 설명을 드리겠습니다.

광학 문자 인식 결과

보시는 바와 같이 빨간 줄이 그어진 단어들은 광학 문자 인식이 제대로 되지않은 단어들 입니다. 원본이 깨끗한 경우는 거의 90%이상까지도 정확한 인식이 가능하지만, 오래된 신문과 같이 원본이 온전하지 않은 경우는 위와 같이 오판 확률이 그만큼 높아지게 마련입니다.

리캡차 기술은 위에서 말씀드린 바와 같이 두 단어를 보여줍니다. 처음 단어는 온전한 단어이고 두번째 단어는 위 그림에서 처럼 철자가 정확치 않은 단어입니다.

사용자들의 입력을 통해서 두 번째 단어의 정확한 철자를 얻을 수 있도록 한 것입니다. 보여지는 단어는 광학 문자 인식 후의 결과물이 아닌 스캔한 이미지이므로 사용자들이 거의 정확하게 제대로 된 철자를 입력하게 된다는 것에 착안한 것입니다.

이렇게 리캡차 기술과 사용자들의 도움(?)으로 완전 판독이 불가능한 모든 종이 문서를 전자 문서화 할 수 있게되는 것입니다.

많은 돈은 아니지만 리캡차 기술로 루이스는 이제 어느 정도 수입을 올리고 있다고 합니다. 돈이 목적이 아니므로 자신의 홈페이지 및 기타 운영에 드는 비용을 충당하는 것으로 만족한다고 합니다.

지금은 뉴욕 타임즈(Newyork Times) 아카이브를 전자 문서화 하는 프로젝트를 진행하고 있습니다.

무료로 리캡차 기능을 자신의 홈페이지에 달 수도 있습니다. 더 많은 사람들이 이 기능을 사용함으로 인해 비영리 단체의 전자 문서화를 돕는 이 중의 효과를 볼 수 있습니다.

애플 앱 스토어(Apple App Store)에 수많은 애플리케이션이 올라오고 있습니다. 그중에 최근 논란이 된 '나는 부자다(I Am Rich)' 애플리케이션의 데모가 You Tube에 올라왔더군요.

'나는 부자다(I Am Rich)' 애플리케이션은 가격이 무려 100여만 원($999.99)임에도 불구하고 8명이나 구매를 한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

물론 애플에서는 바로 이 애플리케이션을 App Store에서 없애버렸죠.

'나는 부자다' 애플리케이션 시연 비디오를 보고는 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 이 애플리케이션이 하는 일이라고는 화면에 빨갛게 빛나는 보석하나 보여주는 것뿐입니다.

설정 버튼을 누르면 애플리케이션 설정 메뉴가 있는 것이 아니라 다음과 같은 글만 보입니다.

I am rich (나는 부자다)
I deserv it (나는 부자로서 자격이 있다)
I am good, healthy & successful (난 괜찮은 놈이고, 건강하고, 아주 성공했다)

웃긴것은 100만원이나 하는 애플리케이션이 철자마저 틀리게 나오고 있다는 것입니다.
I deserv it에서 deserv는 deserve가 맞습니다.

그나저나 이런 애플리케이션을 구입한 사람들은 기능이나 알고 구입을 했을까요?

여러분은 이런 프로그램을 구매할 의사가 있으신가요?

  저도 동영상을 보기전까지는 그 프로그램이 뭔가 대단한 일을 하는 줄 알았습니다. 그런데 그냥 번쩍번쩍 빛나는 보석 하나 보여준다고 하니까, 참 어이가 없더군요.
  부자들의 습성을 간파한 개발자가 참 대단해 보입니다.

  그렇죠? 실제로 위 프로그램을 구입한 사람 중에 한 사람은 완전히 실수로 구입을 한 후에 크레딧 카드 회사와 애플을 상대로 자신은 완전히 사기를 당한 것이라면서 환불을 요구했다고 합니다.
  한 블로그에서 읽었는데 그 사람은 결국 환불을 받았다고 하더군요.

저것을 판매한 판매자의 말은 내용에서 빠져있네요..
프로그램이 정말로 황당하기는 합니다.
판매자는 저것은 돈을 모으는 무슨 부적이라고 했다던데..
모든 사람들이 사기라고 판단하겠지만
그래도 내용은 100% 모두 전달해 주시는게 맞을듯 합니다.

애플 아이폰(iPhone)에 대한 글을 또 올리게 되는군요.

아마도 인터넷상에 올라오는 뉴스 중 상당수가 애플의 아이폰에 관한 이야기이기도 하고, 저 또한 아이폰에 많은 관심이 있어서이기 때문일 겁니다.

Stocks 프로그램에 숨어있는 감시(?) URL

'iPhone Open Application Development'라는 책의 저자인 Jonathan Zdziarski에 따르면, 아이폰의 OS에 불법으로 취급되는 프로그램의 리스트가 있는 웹사이트의 주소(URL)가 들어 있어서, 수시로 불법 프로그램이 사용되고 있는지 확인을 할 수 있다고 합니다.

그러니까, 자신이 사용하고 있는 아이폰에 불법 프로그램을 깔았다고 하면, 애플에서 프로그램이 작동되지 않도록 원격 조정을 할 수가 있다는 말입니다.

내 아이폰이 나도 모르게 내가 불법을 저지르는지 애플에다가 밀고한다는 말이 되겠습니다. (배.신.자!)

아직까지는 블랙리스트에 올라 있는 프로그램은 없다고 합니다.

'세상에 믿을 놈... 아니, 믿을 것이 하나도 없다.'라는 말이 정말 맞나 봅니다. -_-

CoreLocation이라는 config 파일에 들어 있는 그 문제의 URL은 다음과 같습니다.
